WHAT WE DO
Stay tuned for fall programming! We are working on developing a combination of safe, in-person, small group activities and on-line options. The descriptions below are the normal programming options and are not all available at this time. We will continue to adapt following State recommendations for Covid-19
Sunday School - Sunday School starts with families worshiping together at the 9:30 service. Part way through the service, children grades preschool- 6th grade go downstairs for lesson time until 10:45.
Holy Communion - Some may wonder if their children may commune with us if they have yet to receive instruction for Holy Communion. The answer is yes, they may join us before they receive instruction, no matter how old they are. We regularly offer instruction in Holy Communion, so if your child receives communion before instruction, we invite them-- and you-- to join us in learning more about how God's grace is present and active through this meal. How do you know if your child is ready for communion, no matter their age? If they hold out their hand, tell you they want to receive it, or wonder what you're doing when you receive Holy Communion, they are ready.
Soul Searchers - Grace Lutheran utilizes the Peer Ministry model to invite Senior High Youth (9th-12th) to engage in a deeper faith building experience. Look at the calendar for current days.
Celebration Singers - Youth Choir for grades preschool - 6th grade. We practice is Mondays from 3:15- 4:15. Transportation from school to church will be provided upon request. We sing once a month at both services.
Confirmation - Confirmation is offered for 7th - 9th grade, September - May with 9th graders being confirmed in the spring. It is broken into "sessions" that allow for flexibility and parent involvement. During a regular Confirmation session the time is Wednesdays 6-8pm, with a variety of learning experiences including shared meals, small group mentoring, large group games, group discussion with Pastor Paul and servant events.
Religious Release Time - Available for grades 1st - 6th. Offered once a month. Drop off at church between 7am - 8am. A bus picks up from Grace at 10:45 and returns the children to school. You MUST be registered for this before attending so that the school is aware.
Baptismal Anniversary - We celebrate Baptismal Anniversaries on the second Sunday of each month. All ages are invited to the Baptismal font to be reminded of their new life in Christ through the waters of Holy Baptism. Please visit the baptism page under WORSHIP for the baptism form if you are interested in being baptized yourself or baptizing a family member.
Family Fun Nights - Approximately 3-4 times a year we have Fun 4 All Nights. These events are often inter-generational to include all age groups.
Vacation Bible School - VBS is offered every summer in June. This year is June 10-14! 9-11:30 am. We partner with Calvary Lutheran and St. Mary's Catholic Church to provide a M - F day camp experience for preschoolers - going into 6th grade.
Youth Activities - A few of the youth activities offered at Grace are: servant events, NE MN Synod youth gatherings, 24 hr famine lock-in, summer SER-F days (Service plus Fun!) Be watching the calendar.
First Catechism/First Bible - Our goal is to equip parents as their child(ren) grow to help them fulfill the promises that they made at baptism at the end, we give 1st graders a "My Catechism" book and 3rd graders a bible.
Camp Experiences - Attending a camp is one of the best faith building experiences that a youth can have. We encourage parents to check out Luther Point (Grantsburg, WI) and Camp Onomia (Onamia, MN) www.camponomia.org. Both offer winter and summer opportunites. Camperships available upon request.
Mission Trips - Connecting youth to the greater needs of our community, region, country and our world allows them to live out their faith through action and deepens their connection to the Risen Christ. Grace partners with other organizations to provide Mission Trip opportunities
